Three standard colours, white, red and dark grey.

Lady Bug Motor and Battery Combination

LADY BUG has been upgraded to have a Large Lithium Battery giving exceptional performance and cost efficiency in operation.

LADY BUG has a 72V DC 800 Watt economical Brushless Motor; the higher voltage giving increased torque with no maintenance required, unlike all other cabin scooters with low 24V motors and with brushes that require replacement.

LADY BUG has a 72V 40 or 50 Ah Lithium FePO4 battery with an expected 75 km maximum travel distance. A first in the industry !
Unlike all other cabin scooters with a heavy 24V lead acid battery that require much sooner replacement.

This Lithium battery is so much better than the standard Lead Acid Battery, in many ways, not limited to, but including performance and overall driving cost.

The Lithium battery is less than half the weight, has more than twice as long a lifespan, has 1.5 – 2x the power available, but most importantly can supply the full power at the full rate right to the end of its’ cycle. It is also resistant to the Australian high temperatures during the summer time.

In practice, depending on driving style, terrain, load, speed etc, you will get between 50 – 60 km distance. You may get more, but remember Lithium batteries have a short end phase in their power supply, so run out quickly.
Shallow discharges will extend the life of the battery.

You may charge this Lithium battery as often as you like, after every use is recommended. Leaving the charger on overnight is ok. Remove charger if not using and switch off the main switch if storing.

If not using LADY BUG, you must fully charge the battery every month, and then disconnect the charger. Check the charger use and battery charging instructions by reading the FAQ’s in above link, the information there is important and an addendum to the manual.

Please note, this information is as per this particular type of Lithium battery and is not what you may know or be told about other types of Lithium batteries.

The cost of running LADY BUG is estimated to be less than 10 cents/km for electricity, battery and maintenance. Maintenance is minimal, but do not neglect a yearly or 1000 km check over, whichever comes first, by your local mobility scooter dealer or auto mechanic.

    FAQs

Can I drive a mobility scooter without a Driver’s License?
You do not need a license to drive a mobility scooter.

Does a mobility scooter need to be registered?
Queensland is the only state where you need to register your mobility scooter, only for ownership. Every other state in Australia does not require you to register your mobility scooter.

What materials is the LADYBUG made from?
The Ladybug panels are made from ABS, an impact-resistance engineering thermoplastic. The windscreen and windows are made from Safety Glass, so they will not shatter into shards that cut you if broken. The frame construction is one piece steel.

What servicing does my Lady Bug require?
Maintenance of your Lady Bug is minimal, but do not neglect at least a yearly or 1000 km check over by your local mobility scooter dealer or car mechanic.
And change the differential oil with SAE80W-90 Gear oil (check manual).
Your dealer can request any consumable parts as required, these should be in stock.
Wash with plenty of water and a soft cloth, and oil all moving surfaces with WD40 or standard oil.
When clean and dry, a polish with a UV protectorant is a good idea.
Any questions, phone the business office.

Can I use standard mobility scooter batteries in my Lady Bug?
The battery in Lady Bug is a special high current, high power Lithium battery. Standard Lead Acid GEL and AGM batteries, will be much heavier and bulkier, will not provide the same performance and the cost to operate will be much higher. It is recommended to only install the correct batteries available from your dealer.

What is the correct way to connect the power to the charger?
    Operation Instructions
Connect outlet plug of the charger to the Lady Bug
Connect the inlet plug of the charger to AC power socket, and when or if connected, turn the power switch on.
When the indicator light is RED it is charging (sometimes this maybe flashing at around one second intervals). When GREEN it is fully charged.
Charging time is proportional to the power required to fully charge the battery, and that is what was used since the last charging.
To disconnect the charger, turn off or remove the charger input plug from the AC power supply.
Remove the charger outlet plug from the Lady Bug.
    Notes
Do not use outside in the sun, rain or damp
Do not use in dusty conditions
Do not place on inflammable materials
    Do not drop
Ensure the correct charger is used for correct battery type and capacity.
Some chargers have different colour light sequences, please check and note when first using.
