    Introduction

Revolutionary, powerful, electric, self-balancing scooter, allowing you to travel distances up to 15-20km at a safe max speed of 18km/hr.

Perfect vehicle for commuting, shopping, visiting friends, fun etc.
Does not require parking, registration, licence, is light weight and very portable.

The airwheel as picture shows training wheels fitted, training wheels are removable.

    Operation

    1. Starting Airwheel

Place Airwheel vertically on the ground and turn on power. Power and Battery Level LED will illuminate and buzzer will beep, then the vehicle is ready to use.
If Airwheel tilts either forward or backwards after power is switched on, then wait until it reverts to upright position before riding.

    2. Battery level

Four LED indicators are used to indicate battery level. All four will light up when power level is more than 85% and will go off one by one as the level decreases. Do not ride when only one LED on.
Please check power level before usage to ensure there is enough power for the return trip. You should charge it every time after use.
When power level is lower than 10%, all four lights will flicker and the buzzer will sound. The front part of the treadle will lower itself to force you to decelerate and eventually stop.
Please do not restart when this occurs to avoid any accidents.
Sustained range will decrease during winter. This is because the battery performance decreases quickly in cold conditions.
In -15°C, for example, battery performance is only about half that at room temperature.

    3. Speed Control

To prevent injuries caused by speed, Airwheel comes with a speed control design.
When speed exceeds 10km/hr, the front part of the treadle will rise slowly; when the speed exceeds 16km/hr, the treadle will rise to a 10° angle, to prevent you from inclining forward to further accelerate.
As the speed decreases, the angle of the treadle will also lower itself.
NOTE: When the speed is about to reach its limit, please do not incline forward anymore to force acceleration to prevent injuries.

    4. Side-tilting protection
When Airwheel tilts sideways by more than a 45° angle, for example when Airwheel falls, the control system will activate side-tilt protection, and switchoff. The machine will stop running immediately to prevent injuries.
The buzzer will sound a long buzz and the LED will flicker when this is activated.
To deactivate this, turn the power off, then restart.

    5. Charging

Plug into the power source after inserting the charger plug, otherwise charger will not activate. This may also prevent potential risks.
Airwheel provides a high-power charger. During normal conditions, only 45 mins is needed to be fully charged, 30 mins allows 80% charged. The red light on the charger indicates charging, green indicates charging complete.
If not in urgent need, please wait until charging is complete before unplugging, because after complete charging, the protection circuit will perform power flow equilibrium.

    6. Water resistance

The water resistance level of Airwheel is IP 56, allowing use in light rain, but do not submerge in water or take long rides in heavy rain.
The airwheel as picture shows training wheels fitted, training wheels are removable.

    Maintenance

    1. Storage

Please store Airwheel in a dry place. If left unused, recharge the battery every month to maintain longevity of the battery.

    2. Tyre Inflation

Use the extension inflation tube to inflate the tyre. Without the tube, you will not be able to pump air into the tyre. Inflate to 30 psi or very firm to the feel. Do not under or over inflate.

    3. Changing tires

To repair or change the tyre or tube, open the side of the cover without the indicator lights. First, unscrew the 14 screws on the sides, then the six at the centre. Now the side cover can be opened.

Take care when disassembling the connecting terminal. Do not force disconnection.

    How to Ride an AirWheel

    Preparation:

Always wear an appropriate safety helmet and other protective gear. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes, do not ride barefoot. Make sure your battery is charged and tyre is inflated.

The Airwheel balances front to back, but not side-to-side. You are responsible for maintaining side-to-side balance by twisting your feet left and right and leaning into turns, similar to steering a bicycle. The Airwheel can tip sideways and fall if you don’t actively maintain this side-to-side balance. See the 8 Steps below to riding your Airwheel for important riding technique information.

When first learning to use the Airwheel, you need to use both training wheels and the included training band so that your Airwheel will not become damaged. You can then move onto the training band only until you have full control of the Airwheel and it will not tip over.

Attach the band to the Airwheel handle. While standing with one foot on the platform, adjust the length of the training band so that you can hold it comfortably near waist height. Follow the 8 Steps to Riding your Airwheel instructions. When you feel yourself losing your balance and you have to step off, use the band to keep the Airwheel from falling over.

8 Steps to Riding Your Airwheel

    1. Grab the handle of the Airwheel and set it on the ground vertically and turn the power on. A green light on top of the unit will light up. The Airwheel can face either direction.

    2. Unfold the foot platforms and press them into the down position.

    3. Put one foot on one footrest and stand up straight. Shifting your weight forward, lightly push off the ground with the other foot and immediately place it on the other platform so that you straddle the Airwheel, squeezing the unit between your lower legs.

    4. Shift your body weight forward gradually to pick up speed. Do not suddenly lunge forward.

    5. Shift your body weight backward to stop or slow down.

    6. To turn, lean the wheel in the direction you want to go.

    7. Twist your feet left and right for balance and steering. This is similar to manoeuvring the front wheel of a bicycle. If you feel yourself tipping left, twist left and the gyroscope will help balance you.

    8. When you are ready to get off, slow down, stop and step off with one foot, then grab the handle. Keep your other foot on the other footrest and turn off the Airwheel.

REMEMBER: Do not lift the Airwheel off the ground when it is turned on.

    Learning Tips

If the Airwheel tips too far to the side, the power indicator light will blink. Push the power button off and on again to reset.

Remember to stand naturally and keep your body relaxed through your back and legs.

Lean uphill when riding across gentle slopes.

    Avoid riding across steep slopes.

    Practice controlled stopping.

Stay centred on narrow sidewalks or elevated paths.

IMPORTANT: The top speed of the Airwheel is 18 km/hr. When you approach that speed, the Airwheel will try to prevent you from accelerating further. It will move forward beneath you in order to push your weight backward. You may feel that you can’t make it go faster. Do not continue leaning or bending forward to try and increase your speed or you will fall. The motor does not have enough power to catch you going beyond the speed limit. Lean back and slow down.

    Terrain and Avoiding Hazards

The Airwheel is highly manoeuvrable and allows you to roll easily over rough pavement and around obstacles. You must always be careful when riding and learn to identify and avoid slippery, wet surfaces, loose materials, steep slopes and obstacles or you will loose traction.

Stop and carry the Airwheel over unsafe surfaces or terrain.

Avoid abrupt manoeuvres, such as fast stopping or starting.

Avoid riding on slippery surfaces such as snow, ice, wet floors, wet grass, or any other surface that might cause slipping.

Avoid riding over loose objects or materials such as small branches, litter, gravel, sand or small stones.

Avoid riding on slopes above 15° .

Avoid curbs, holes, grooves, steps and other obstacles.

Avoid sharp turns as the footrest may scrape the ground and throw you off balance.

Use caution when riding over any terrain change such as pavement to grass, over a threshold or speed bump. When in doubt, avoid the bumps.

Avoid riding the Airwheel in heavy rain or other bad weather conditions.

Do not ride at night when visibility is poor.

    Riding Etiquette

Be careful and considerate of others.

    Always be prepared to stop.

Always ride under control at a speed that is safe for those around you and yourself.

Respect pedestrians by always yielding the right of way.

Avoid startling pedestrians. When approaching from behind, announce yourself and slow down to walking speed when passing. Pass on the right whenever possible. When approaching a pedestrian from the front, slow down and stay to the left.

In heavy pedestrian traffic, slow down and proceed at a walking speed. Pass only if there is ample space to do so safely. Do not weave in and out of pedestrian traffic.

If it is legal in your area to ride in the street, always stay in marked bike lanes.
